Warley Grange Health is delighted to offer toe nail reconstruction to those patients who present with unsightly toe nails. This service is suitable for damaged nails, fungal infected nails, psoriatic nails as well as nails that have regrowth following surgery. It is suitable for some diabetic patients.
The prosthetic nail is constructed from a tough but flexible gel therefore suitable in footwear. It is non-porous, so the patient can shower and swim. The nail can be cut like a normal nail and can also be varnished.
The new nail can last up to nine months. However we normally advise replacement after 3 months. This will vary according to the condition of the presenting nail, the lifestyle of the patient and the care taken by the patient.

How is toe nail reconstruction different to gel nails in a salon?
Toe nail reconstruction is a similar process to the gel nails you can have in a salon, but the product used for this procedure is very different. The nail that is created is described as a prosthetic, not an acrylic nail. It is designed to look and feel like a natural toe nail. The gel that is used is a specialised gel that is flexible, unlike the gel used in salons which is harder. The gel for this procedure needs to be flexible to allow the toe nail to move with the natural movements of the toe. The nail that is created will not damage or restrict growth to the natural nail. Toe nail reconstruction can only be performed by a registered Podiatrist.
